BROTHERHOOD CONFERENCE

Navigating life together in an everchanging world

Staying grounded in our biblical roots, while learning to thrive in a post-Christian society. (John 17:14-18)

The Conference this year will focus on how we navigate life as a body of believers bound together by our love for Jesus and each other. We do this in an everchanging and challenging world, recognizing that many norms of society are no longer rooted in a biblical world view. God calls us to be salt and light by knowing who we are in Christ, living in the Spirit’s power, and living as citizens of his Kingdom.

TOPICS

Vision - Who We Are

Bro. Mike Leman (Denver)

Where did we come from? To get the answer, we must look to the rock from which we are hewn, the biblical fathers of faith, and our own Apostolic Christian forefathers. In light of this heritage, we can assess our present state as a church and consider where we want to go as a body, relying on the Holy Spirit’s direction.

Walking in the Spirit’s Power

Bro. Dan Moser (Elgin, IL)

The Holy Spirit is alive and powerful and he gives us the spirit of power, love and a sound mind. This talk will address specific way brothers and sisters can operate by the Spirit’s power appropriately and confidently, according to their biblical roles.

Discerning the Information Stream

Bro. Lucas Frank (Detroit / Livonia)

Technology is advancing so rapidly, it can make one’s head spin. Yet we cannot ignore it, for many of us and our children / grandchildren are immersed in it. How can we wisely discern what to use and what to avoid? What information is reliable? Get insights into helpful resources and biblical principles that can help us navigate this challenge of our time.

Primacy of Scripture

Bro. Duane Rocke (Minneapolis)

In a post-Christian world where most people hold to moral relativism, it is essential to be faithful to Scripture and rightly divide the word of truth. We must hold each other accountable to this. How should we approach studying the Bible to not just increase our understanding but also our obedience? And then how do we speak the truth in love to people who accept no standard of truth?

Statement of Faith Clarity - Panel Discussion

Bro. Wayne Hartzler (Rittman), Bro. Lynn Fiechter (Bluffton), Bro. Ted Steffen (Alto), Bro. Bruce Endress (Bradford), Bro. Brent Walder (Rockville)

Our current Statement of Faith is being reviewed with the intent of increasing its clarity, bolstering our doctrinal positions, and appropriately categorizing biblical principles and church practices. Find out what led to this project, where it currently stands, and get answers to frequently asked questions about it.

Our Citizenship

Bro. Brad Strahm (Bern)

While we reside here in earthly nations, our allegiance and true citizenship belongs to the Kingdom of God. We are ambassadors for Christ, wherever we live. As we observe disturbing trends politically and socially, how should we respond in a Christ-like manner while appropriately making use of the rights we are granted?

A Body Bound Together

Bro. Brad Eisenmann (Chicago)

Throughout the New Testament, we are taught to love, encourage, exhort, serve, and forgive one another. Close relationships provide ample opportunity to practice these. As we strive to live as one body bound together, expect that there will be occasion to test the strength of our bond — both within our local congregations and as an extended brotherhood. Learn practical ways to apply this “one another” teaching in our church.
